Hi all!
Greetings from Australia.
My name is Adam, I live in Melbourne.
I became interested in scrap 2 years ago when my wife wanted a diamond ring for her 40th LOL
Well she got her ring and it ended up owning me about $1000 for the items I bopught to then take apart and scrap ....and it was a "HUGE!!!" one too
Now I am hooked!
I have collected, processed, and sold on a 'very' part time basis due to time, and space constraints.
I found that advertising on free 'recycle' web sites did little if any good, and that a 'paid' newspaper add in my local area, and the subsiquent word of mouth was the key!
Computers is really my thing, and I have begun to do some gold recovery just (as we say in Australia) for "Sh1ts N Giggles" or just for a bit of fun
I also look for
A/C units and industrial refrige or cool room gear! Hard Rubbish (kerb side hard waste) is a good source for me, but you need to get creative on what you grab, how you grab it, then what you do with it!
I notice from some other sites I visit that in the USA you are able to break down a PC and then sell off the components to a scrap dealer. Here in Australia it is very difficult do do this, they are very short sighted over here, and still concentrate on the basic copper, alluminium, steel aspects of a PC, more often than not, yards will pay "sheet metal" prices when buying computers (by weight)
so if there are any other Aussie members who have any ideas for me, I would be glad to here from you! (or if you have a load of
e-waste you can't shift LOL )
...anyway, thanks for having me here, my ADD means that I may well dissappear from time to time (hense the "very part time" comment above) I think the community you have in here is great!
Thanks again!
