    Newbie here.

Hiya everyone! I live in S. Metro Atlanta and am a newbie to the Scrapping World.

I have been dating a nice guy for about a yr. who has his own business scrapping. I work for myself as a Virtual Assistant (VAs are self employed contractors who provide administrative, technical and/or creative services to other businesses, usually from a distance using phone, fax and Internet) and would like to spend more time learning about scraping so in turn I can help him build his business. The more $$ he makes......

I am here to learn and possibly be able to return the favor helping with things that I have experience in related to business, web, accounting, etc. (FYI-Admin/Mods, I am a vbulletin expert).

Thanks for having me. I have already learned a great deal looking around the threads before joining.

See you all around the forum.....Christine

Thanks for the kind welcome Kris Kringle.

LOL! My bf's nickname for me is Pita, too funny.

Your post is right on track. The possibilities for working as a VA are endless...just got to find your niche. For me it's Admin/bookkeeping/acct.ing. Most of my clients are those who do not need someone full or pt on site. They save $$ by hiring me, I am available 24/7 and have all office equip., software programs, etc. so they don't have to invest. Most of my clients are Real Estate Agents, Truck drivers, small businessess. A good example is the truck driver...on the road not needing an office...I recieve their BOLs, do their invoicing, help with permits, fuel taxes, accounting, collections...you get the idea. I have some clients who just ask me to balance once a month, their bank and/or credit card statements. The ops are endless and you are not limited by area, you can work for anyone, anywhere.

There are many companies now, Sears repair, Pizza Hut, Virgin Mobile, newspapers and such who hire large VA companies to field calls, set appts, take orders...it's really a new trend and exciting to be part of. West at Home is a large company who works with many of these mentioned. Ever see the commercials for Time Life Music and As Seen on TV items (all the excercise equip, cooking stuff (set it and forget it!!!), girls gone wild (LOL)? That is all ''Direct Response"... those 800 calls go to people who work from home and do all through computer...you never know if your talking to an actual call center or someone in their jammies and slippers at home computer...amazing stuff.

I could go on and on about this subject!

This could work for the serious scrapper. They could have a "Danielle" like on American Pickers finding the goods and setting up their appts/pu's. Also looks professional to have a 'secretary' fielding calls for you when you are on the road. This is exactly what I will be doing for my honey.

BTW-paypal is a great resource for VAs.

I started it....one day I asked him to go to the store...and I really AM a PITA...I have to have certian things, like only HELMANNs mayo, and HORMEL pepperoni...I txt and said, "I don't mean to be a PITA", he didn't get the acronym, once I explained he started calling me Pita all the time, just stuck. Sooooo, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Thanks for the welcome. Look forward to learning from y'all.

Welcome Pita !!! Glad to have you with us and look forward to hearing from you often. Your job sounds interesting and I can see how you and your boyfriend make perfect partners. Do you plan to keep your hands clean, or do you think you might like to get in "the thick of it" some ? Best of luck to you both. Dee
