"nother Newbie

Hello everyone...Miss Margaret here; and no, I'm not a southern gal, from the fingerlakes area of NY. I am fairy new to scrapping. Have only done a couple of small short steel runs to clean up around the place. I am currently having a hard time making ends meet financially and need to supplement my income, so I am looking to get my hands on anything I can easily scrap. I have been reading old posts in the forums for a few days now...and still have 1000's of questions!

Just spent 4 hrs busting open power packs, dismantling a box fan,and trying to dismantle 2 motors from I think ceiling fans...cant get to the copper as it seems i need a grinder to cut open the casing ....so far I only have hand tools accessible & boy could i use a bench-vise!!

The two best tools I have is a bench vise and angle grinder. With the angle grinder getting the copper out of fan motors is easy. There are several photos if you can find them here on the forum. Best of luck and welcom to the forum, Mike.

Welcome MM...if you have a Harbor Freight nearby, you can get a little vise real cheap.....but, in the mean time, sounds like you have the right idea by reading the old threads...tons of info....good luck to you
