    Hello gentlemen.

    Just joining up, hoping to find some good conversation and tips.
    The one thing that is most pressing on my mind currently- is how much scrap can you find in a typical cell phone? Other than trying to find an answer to this, I don't expect to do much more than lurking, unless there is an Alberta chat link here.

    That's a good tip. I have been searching, though useable information tends to be hard to come by. Before I decide whether to break down my e-scrap or sell it in bulk, I will need to see what kind of inventory I can pick up. I am clearly the only one in my area who doesn't care if picking up E.S. is not vogue.

    Hello once more.
    Hoard status;
    Copper wire-
    mostly insulated- a **** heavy bag full.
    Windows 2000 comps-
    2xof them- functional and w/ all compononents- ram- etc. 1X Sister board in the 2nd computer. Gold fingers everywhere; 3x sticks of ram per compy.
    (From being broken down); 4lb or so of aluminium.
    1x Laptop screen with a nice gold trim all around the perimeter of topmost circuit
    1x Broken dvd player- upon inspection; not sure if it has gold- Still scrappable? Transformers etc (Please reply re; this.)
    1x heavy assed chord to a household circuit breaker (No gold visible from circuitry- discarded- let me know if I screwed up)
    1x hell of a lot of heavily insulated wire. Tiny copper amount- so much copper- not sure if want. Discarded.

    I know of where to snag a discarded computer monitor- that is for tonight. I would also like to find out how a computer repair place in my neck of the woods discards it's scrap, as well as see what other easy to disassemble electronics are laying around.

    If you have any suggestions regarding that which I decided was useless (circuits appearing to have no gold- that heavily insulated wire) let me know. I would hate to find out that I left something useful behind.

    Anything that has some copper or some brass goes into a big bucket, even our small ribbon wire goes in a 55 gal barrel. I'll even smack a light switch or plugin with a hammer for the brass inside. Those plugin strips that people use a lot (the one's with 6 plugin's) have a 3 wire cable about 5' long, a small circuit board with small transformers and brass or copper straps about 9-10" long. The e-scrap you will have to save till you get a box or two full to make it worthwhile to ship to a buyer. There's 4-5 e-scrap buyers right here on the forum. All metal has value, it just depends on how much room you have to stockpile.
