new electronic recycling and now scrap metal

hello everyone! My name is Jay Estrada. I live in Phoenix AZ where we can boil an egg on the concrete in the summer time. Recycling is fun and lot of work. I have over 6yrs work history in the computer industry as a desktop technician fixing computer and troubleshooting networks. I have been turning in computer electronics for the last 4 months from different sources. I am learning about metals and just started looking on craigslist to find scrap metals.

Where are good places to find scrap metal and people just want you to pick it up and get rid of it? Mechanic shops?

Can I get more than $1.00 a lb for motherboards?

Hi jestrad4, welcome to the electronic scrap world. This is the place to look for good and better than good pricing. Look through the buyers and seller threads and take your pick. I send to Ewasted, not often enough, and his company is quite well to do business with. With you in AZ, you might find someone a little closer if your worried about shipping. Even compared to any local pricing I get, shipping works out better for me for he higher grade stuff.

As for finding the scrap meal, tell everyone that you talk to during or travels, have a card to give them. The scrap will come, you have to be ready for it. But never stop your advertising. But remember, you will only succeed as much as you put into it. It will be slow going, be patient.
