I'm 28 years old, I have a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems and have been in the industry for almost 2 years. I began working for a Chinese company who bought non-ferrous and sold/processed at their oversea facilities. Currenty I work at a larger processing facility. I was introduced to
metal recycling by a college roommate and was drawn to the small business environment and entrepreneurial spirit of the industry. I found this site while researching when he suggested we build our own scrap industry news site.
My experience over the past 2 years has primarily been in grading copper, and copper containing material. I have collected samples of countless wires and motors that I can readily identify and give copper recoveries. My work also requires following the futures markets for copper and aluminum, then pricing the different scrap grades along with steel grades accordingly. I belive this knowledge base will add to the value of this board.
Currently my position is in a fairly large company with a new location. There are several smaller yards in the area from whom we purchase material through our commercial buyers, yet now compete with for public traffic. I would like to help the company grow its public traffic in the area to at least match that of our other yards and the yards we compete with.
