    Beginner in Raleigh

Hi scrappers and junk enthusiasts. I'm a college student in Raleigh with a bad (expensive) motorcycling habit. I'm looking to make some cash on the side by taking scrap metal and junk appliances to the scrap metal recycling yard.

I've been lurking for a bit now and I have a pretty good idea of places to look for scrap, some scrapping etiquette, and how to identify valuable scrap.

I just went on my first "run" today. I hit some of the dumpsters around my my apartment complex and a few neighboring places. I snagged the steel base from a recliner, a bit of insulated wire, and a bit of aluminum from the speakers of a broken TV.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning the ropes around the scrapping world and hopefully making some better finds.

P.S. I know that there is a wealth of information on this site, but if anyone feels the need to tell me something about scrapping, particularly about the Raleigh area, just send me a pm. It will be much appreciated.

What's the scrap prices in North Carolina anyway? I live there 5 years ago myself in the Jacksonville area long before I became a scrapper. I was too busy being an active duty Marine, didn't even know what craigslist was yet, lol. They should have decent prices there with the port of Wilmington so close right?
