My name is Greg from Winnipeg. Started scrapping winter of 2010/11. Love it. Really dissapoined in prices lately. i.e. was getting 180/ton up until July, now only 60. That's a serious drop. Can somebody explain why? Could use help with this.

Hi Greg. Welcome to the Forum. Stock prices are down due to the world economy. Metals are a commodity and follow stock trends.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
Hello Greg, I am in Winnipeg as well. Who are currently selling to? What type of scrapping are you doing? Metals? E-Scrap?
Brent
Hey bro welcome to the forum. Is there any other scrap yards that would make the drive worth it? Those are some crappy prices.
Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.

Hey Brent,
When picking in the city I go to General Scrap on Springfield Rd. I also pick out in the country in which case Gerdau Ameristeel in Selkirk. As of yesterday, General paid me 90/ton for shred while Selkirk is holding at 60. When complaining about price the girl I spoke to said that 2 winters ago, they were paying as low as 10. At those prices I will find a way to hoard.
BTW, what is E-scrap?
That is electronic scrap, tv/monitors, computer, basically anything that plugs in or runs on battery.BTW, what is E-scrap?
