I can actually read and go WOW that is a good idea and want to read more.... =P Thanks for the Welcome!

Thing is that really like to see the good items not go to waste/melted. The guy told me with the Trombone that he was just going to donate them to a music school! However, there are a few items they will not sell yet. Currently they have a 300 pound brass horse from an old carousel. LOL
Carousel horse ya have to love them, I had a crane truck back in the mid 90's the price of scrap welt all to heck, sold the truck to some fellows in Penticton who wanted it for hauling peelers for fence post to a small mill in Keromeos.

Cash in hand walked into Future shop where I purchased a PC and my first digital camera, went back to Salmon Arm, I was living out of the back of my Van and much preferred Salmon Arm over Penticton, anyhow as it goes a few days later I wander into a seconded hand store and Whoa there was a pair of hand carved wooden carousel horse's that got my attention real quick so I ask the proprietor how much. Thousand each, next question how long have you had then, A: 9 years, with this I figure their not going anywhere soon.

I ask if I can take some pictures which she gladly allows me, later that day I'm off to my buddy's place up at Apex he has an Internet connection and the best coffee this side of Vancouver, plus I need a shower.

Ok, I have a cup of java in hand then show Bill the pictures of the horse's, we' both know they're going to be a hot item but how much $$$ is the big question, so off on the Net we go, first thing we find is a forum dedicated to Carousels. People are actual rebuilding these things.

Next I upload the pictures onto a host, then link these to some of the wanted ads on the form, since its not my computer, grab another coffee and turn the PB back to Bill,

Bill and Anne are Beanie Baby crazy, their busy as a cat on a hot tin roof filling and shipping orders.I'm not 5 minutes into that cup of coffee when an email comes in asking for a telephone number, this done go back to my chair.

Be darn if the phone doesn't ring, Bill picks it up, it a woman inquiring about one of the horse's that caught her eye, shes asking how much, Bill repeats her words, I could have slammed him with a big fist real hard as we were still no further ahead and had a potential buyer on the line. I pick a number from the top of my head, $4800.00 plus $400.00 shipping. Ok she's got that and moves onto the next question, Credit Card.

Bill had a brick and mortar store in Penticton where he and Anne sold those blasted Beanie critters, so I knew he had a merchant account. I tell him that I would splt the deal with him if he would slide the card through his store account. Hmm pretty good cup of coffee were having. Bill's a quick thinker and I do not have to wait forever and day for a reply. I hear him tell the woman yes we accept credit cards

She gives him the CC number, after they complete to call, he make a call for authorization, the card is good to fly. Next morning the cash is waiting.

I get my half, plus the money to cover the purchase and shipping, now back to Salmon Arm to pay for and ship the horse.

Being blindsided with the asking price, was a weird experience. The important thing is that it all ended well, she got the horse of her dreams, Bill made a few easy dollars for his effort, and I got enough to to pay off my debt to the auto insurance company making my Van legal again.

Wish you good luck on the sale of your horse.

    Welcome to the Forum. Elena

I scrap vehicles myself, mostly ones I remove from foreclosures. I don't hard core scrap them, like others do though.

For me, foreclosures are like a gold mine most times. Never know what you will find!

How are you getting yourself in a position to get the items from a foreclosure? I have always told Kenny beside owning a yard one day it would be nice to buy foreclosures and turn them around. I take it you are cleaning out the foreclosure correct?

If say the car was taken to a Garage and Left there at a garage The Garage can file a Mechanic Lein on the car But the Police has to still be contacted to do a Vin Check to locate the owner If the Garage bill isn't paid off the Garage has a Lien on the car also and the Lien Companys work between themselfs to Release the car to the Garage owner Unless The Guy that holds the First pays off the Garage Owners Bill for the repair.
Correct, my father in law has a deal with a gentlemen who owns a towing company and an impound lot. The deal is, if a customer doesn't pay, and my father in law puts a lien on it, the guy puts it in his lot, and then the customer either pays, or it gets sold, either way, my father in law gives his friend a decent cut for holding the car.

Luckily, hasn't needed to do it yet, but you are correct.

Like I said, I have no idea what the process/law in VA is. All I know, is they worry over all that legal stuff, and then it is all legalized when I take it. I won't touch a car or any vehicle unless the owner is giving me authorization to do so.

I told my yard about how I get 95% of them, and they said there was no issue, so either they don't care, or there is truly no issue lol.

Yeah not many women can really get down and dirty like us! I do not stop for just one can either. I think last time I checked 12 oz can = 1.6 cents, 16 oz = 2 cents, 24 oz = 3 cents. LOL Hard to stop and waste gas with today's gas prices for a couple cents. Thank you for the welcome and I look forward to the reading everyone posts as well!

Welcome guys, I've messaged you on youtube before a time or two (same screen name) and I just want to say...you guys are the reason I got into electronic scrapping (starting with the TV vid), which led me to googling a few things, which led me here, which taught me more, which has severely helped me as i'm on unemployment, and back in school full time, living on my own, with bills to pay. Your a couple of my heroes.

I must be honest, I do not watch every vid you guys upload, but I do like the ones where you breakdown the item by its content of different metals, and place a dollar value on that, makes it a good tool for me to decide if I break down an item or not. I do get into the bonus vids, or competition stuff, as I am in Australia, however your vids have always remained light hearted, fun, and the recent ones shows a marked inprovement in production quality..

    Well done!
