Hi Everyone, so glad to be here!

For the past 21 years I worked for the big man punching a clock. A year ago I lost my husband 4 days before X-Mas and one week before our anniversary. Now I am a stay home Mom raising two beautiful little girls.

Six months ago I decided I was done struggling with living from day to day on very little. I told myself I was a bright young woman with lots of potential and set off to make more money and provide a better life for my girls. The scrapper was born!

I was always a tomboy growing up. Wanted to work out in the garage with my Dad and Brothers. When I got into high school I was the first girl in my school to join the machine shop. They told my parents I couldn't. My Mom flipped out on them. So here I was the only girl in the shop class and bringing compitition to the table. Right out of school I started a job as a machinist and stayed with it for 14 yrs.

Now I am a full time scrapper. I get a call or message, I load my kids up and we are gone. Get back home and my kids love watching me work in the garage. They try to help too!

    Glad You're Here

Welcome to the Forum, I'm sure you'll be greatly rewarded for your time here. I've picked up many a great tip in my short time here reading past threads.
I'd like to be able to give you some names in your area, as I scrapped the oilfield supply and irrigation industry in your neck of the woods 20 years ago. Problem is they're not good leads anymore, most are not even in business now!
Good Luck & Good Fortune in your new endeavor.

Welcome to the forum. Back in the 80's I lived in Girard for a couple of years. Was really hard getting used to all the friendly people. That big giant coal crane was still in operation when I was there, now it's a little historical museum of sorts.

I was scrapping in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, & Texas at that time, only dealing with oilfield supply companies and irrigation supply companies. I was mostly buying 70 series brass (irrigation pump impellers) from the irrigation fields and nickel, stainless, carbide & ni-resist from the oilfield industry. In 1992, almost overnight, 80% of my oilfield customer base went out of business. It was great while it lasted...then, on to new things!
