Hooked to scrapping, new to the forum! Pennsylvania

Hello to the forum! I'm been stalking this site for quite some time and have already learned much from everyone's posts. I check out what's new every morning and evening... I can't help it, I'm hooked! My name is Jodi and I'm in my 40th year rotating around on this earth. (ugh). I started scrapping in the spring of 2011 after a flood on the Susquehanna river in PA where I live. The receding flood waters in my back yard revealed half a buried car and some left over pieces of washers and dryers. I intended on just cleaning up the river front and ended up instantly becoming a scrapper when I took it all to my scrap yard and got cash in my pocket for it. I've graduated into a regular scrapper and love it! I now find myself not only stopping to pick up scrap from other peoples trash pile during their trash days, but also changing my route to work everyday to hit trash days in different neighborhoods! My days off are filled with leaving the house in the wee hours to search trash pickups and hanging out in my shop pulling copper and ripping things apart! I do not believe in stealing scrap, not only because I work in law enforcement, but because I believe that being a scrapper can be a professional endeavor and looked upon with respect if not for all the thieves. I continually check this site because I see there are honest, hard working people here sharing ideas, experiences and help. I can't stand to search the internet and read stories of guys that have "stayed up for 4 days pulling wire" since due to my profession, I can quickly identify that comment as coming from a drug addict who steals his wire. (if you stay up for 4 nights straight to pull your copper by the help of caffeine alone, I apologize for assuming you are a meth head.) I appreciate all the posts, and more importantly, all the time the experienced scrappers have spent in this forum to help new scrappers. I look forward to learning enough here to share my own experiences in the future. (oh, and by the way, I'm a girl. )

Welcome, welcome, welcome and thank you for such a wonderful intro! Just so you know I've never "stayed up for 4 days pulling wire". But I have had some real long hours in this biz. The longest I've ever stayed awake to date actually scrapping is 39 hours. No meth. But I did drink alot of those Monster energy drinks and 2 or 3 of those 5 hour energy shots. I sure hope those days (nights?) are behind me. Good luck and happy scrapping!
