Hello! from niagara falls, ON, Canada

Hey folks, my name is Richard. I'm a 19 year old recent high school graduate from st catharines / niagara falls, ontario. I have been lurking the forums for a bit, but finally decided that for all the information i have gathered from here, the least i could do is register and introduce myself! I have been taking occasional trips to the scrap yard for a little over 3 years now, but im still a newbie! plagued with a recent lay-off, i have decided to make a full time commitment to scrapping. hopefully you more experienced guys can share some words of wisdom to help me succeed in the business, as i am struggling to even make back the gas money i spend driving around looking for scrap, lol.

anywho, my truck is a 1997 GMC Sonoma, 2.2L 4cyl, 5 speed manual. pretty rough truck but it gets the job done, ill upload a picture as soon as the forum lets me post a link

Hi, just go to Photobucket and get an account so you have somewhere to keep the pictures then you can copy the direct link and paste them here using the lil window icon above the posting window.
The smaller truck will do just fine to get you started. Print some do-it-yourself business cards that way everytime you talk with someone (family/friends) just hand a card so they know what's going on. Or in my case they know I specialize in electronic scrap by my card. That networking takes awhile, but people know people and you never know when the right person will hear about you. Get a steady route going so your not wasting so much gas.

    Welcome Richard.

I know all about that feeling of looking at the fuel gauge, then into the back of truck and realizing the math just doesn't add up lol.
Sorry about the layoff I wish you the best, hopefully you'll get many more loads like your last one!
