    Sheetmetalman and roofer from Louisiana

Just kinda getting starting in the business of scrapping and am obliged to find fellow scrappers. I've always done a little from some of my left over tin and 16 oz. copper, but I never knew I could make 3,200.00 with no work when times are tough. (Over $1,200 in copper) I had to split that with my constituent though. Old 800 # welders have a good bit of #1 and #2 copper plus the prepared steel and the several loads of tin we recovered from off of a power line. The welding machines were built in the early 70's and given to us, but took three days to separate all ten of them, a real *****. Glad to be aboard.

roofermarc, I was going to ask you how I could "make $3,200.00 with no work" , but after reading your post for the third time, I get it, You made the money when you had no regular work. That was a nice score, all those welders. Congratulations and welcome!

I had no regular work is what I meant to say and the scrapping was just for fun, but we managed to make some decent money. Really though the scrap job took us about two weeks for that amount. Ironically I checked two roofing repair jobs yesterday in Mandeville and New Orleans, (because of all the rain we've had) and found myself in a vacant lot scrounging for iron. I don't want a regular job anymore, I think I've found my new ambition and supplemental trade. I think we have another ton of iron, on the trailer as we speak.
