Who I am and What we do!

My name is Erin and I work at a company called 2ndSolutions. This company is merely trying to bring a solution to the rising e-waste problem that is continuously growing here in America. You should be well aware of this issue. A lot of people are not sure of what to do with their old technology and just throw it away into landfills. By doing this, the soil where these electronics are being dumped becomes severely toxic due to all of the chemical components that make up each piece of equipment. Third world countries are getting a lot of this e-waste thanks to companies who choose not to be compliant about the issue and people over there are getting sick and dying thanks to our electronic waste!

If you want to be a part of the solution, make sure you are properly disposing your electronics. My company, 2ndSolutions LLC, buys used technology from people and companies and try to refurbish the items if we can. For anything that doesn't have a secondary market value, we make sure to dispose of it properly by sending the items to an environmentally friendly recycling facility

Hi Erin. Thanks for the Intro. I'm not really as mean as I sounded in the PM.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Welcome to the forum. A price list would be nice, Mike.

We do not have a set price list. Items vary on grade and quality, so we typically assess value then create a price list. We are very thorough when creating new clientele. We want to ensure our clients are getting the best price for their old technology.

For phones (at least) You tell us your make and model, how many you have and we will price it based off of that information (you don't have to send them in first for us to price them). The price we give you is based upon good condition, battery, and having all of the cables. The price will be adjusted based on whether or not you have all of those. We try to determine price before all of that. There are some occasions where we do pick ups and a check is distributed later, but we have never failed to issue a customer money! If you live out of our state and we cannot pick up the items we can certainly pay for your shipping labels. All we need to know is the weight dimensions and products! Check out 2ndSolutions website and you can try to better understand! I'm not personally in the pricing department, but I know that is kind of our process.

No we do not. That would defeat the purpose of recycling. We disassemble all items using drills and such to break them into individual components to then be sorted into proper bins for recycling.

Perhaps if you were to give an example of some of the pricing you say you offer, you may get a better reception. Specifically, what do you pay per pound for motherboards so that they do not end up in the landfill. Or RAM? Or whole towers or laptops?

We have several reputable buyers of E-waste on this board that contribute regularly to our discussions and are very open about their pricing.

I do not work in that department, so it would be hard for me to say. I know that for e-scrap we pay around $3.25 per lb. We usually deal with companies that are getting rid of their old technology, so what we usually get are cell phones, laptops, computers, servers and such. We break those items down into their components and then send them to an eco-friendly recycler if they do not have a secondary market value. Like I had said in a previous statement. It is hard to give a set price when each piece of technology could have a different market value. Some companies have much older models which we wouldn't pay nearly as much for if they were brand new. I hope you can understand that and respect that. If anyone is interested in pricing they are welcome to inquire. One of my business guys would love to chat about helping find a decent price for any old technology. On most cases we even pay for the shipping and/or even come to pick it up ourselves!

Erin, have you looked at the prices for e-waste that our buyers have carefully itemized and kept up to date ? You can see that it is not difficult to give a set price. You give less for older computers, when from the e-waste perspective they are worth more. If there are others who know more about this than you do, you should have had one of them join the forum instead of you. Good luck.
