Hi,New guy from the Missouri Ozarks

My name is Travis and i joined about a week ago.I have been doing lots of searches on this site and learning a lot like dont unplug a tv and tear it apart 5 minutes later with the charge still in it.

My Dad has several acres with old buildings and different stuff being stored in them for the past 30 plus years.I have got interested in scrapping because of the old starter motors, alternators, washing machines, air conditioners, and the list goes on thats in them buildings. He said scrap;em son.lol

Anyhow I have tore apart a couple air conditioners, couple alternators, and a 60 inch tv (Man I love tearing things up)My uncle came to visit yesterday and seen me scrapping. He said if you want them I have a furnace, some electric motors,3 tvs and a bunch of pipe in my well house that will fill your s-10 pickup full.Getting them this weekend.

So I do not have a lot to contribute to the site right now as I am a newbie but who knows,I might just get real good at this and be able to help in the future.

Have a great weekend everyone. Travis

Hi and welcome. I had an awful job working for an company called ltd in spart tn. The remanufactured starters and alternators. I can tear them apart and rebuild them. The starter also has a very nice coil of copper in the seloniod. I didn't know if you knew it or not.

Be sure to call around to different yards and get prices on all different kinds of metal, certain yards will have better prices on certain items but not all. Might have to put your load together based on what one yard is paying, the next load take the other stuff you left at home the first time.

Funny you mention hatchet.I watched your transformer video yesterday and had 3 small transformers waiting to be done. This morning I used the hatchet method and worked like a charm. The microwave transformer gave me a little workout though.

Do you leave any of the paper on that copper?
