    Greetings from Spartanburg

    Hello everyone,

I used to scrap with my dad as a kid over 30 years ago. I loved it back then and have recently decided to get back into it. I have been Escraping for about 2 yrs now and do a little refining here and there. My brother in law has joined me in this venture and he has access to lots of scrap so we are into the basic metals along with escrap. He works for a Hazmat company and makes alot of contacts. I am the maintenance mgr for a 1.75 million sq ft distribution center (wish I could get our scrap) and have also developed an extensive contact list.
I am here to learn more, share experiences, and to meet others who have a passion for this like I do. Maybe it's the nostalga of the fun I had with my dad.
I also do a little refining from time to time mostly silver, and am a avid gold prospector here in South Carolina. I go prospecting about 1 a month for a weekend, dredging, slucing and panning. I have gotten some decent color, but it is mostly a hobby. I also am a memeber of the goldrefiningforum.
    Looking forwrd to joining in.

Welcome to the forum Sky. Didn't the original gold rush start in Georga? I live in Idaho and get out prospecting as much as I can. Have to admit though that I've found more gold metal detecting parks than mining!

You will be a great addtion to the forum. I get excited breaking open stuff just to see what's inside. I used to do a lot of beach metal detecting, a great way to find gold, Mike.

Thanks everyone. Actually the east coast gold rush started in NC about 40 miles from where I live. What is great about prospecting here is you can aslo find rubies, emeralds and shapphires. I found a nice ruby that I had cut into a half carat, it is a nice stone with a little black inclusion in it. I will enjoy reading the older posts on this forum. The search is a great function to speed me along.

Welcom! A good friend of mine and business partner moved to Spartanburg a few months ago. He's from New York, so I'd imagine he'd stick out down there. He does property management down there now. Maybe you guys will meet up one day in your scrap travels

That sounds so cool, I'd be doing alot of that and not much scrapping.
