    Hi everyone

Hello, My name is Ron and I Live in South East CT. I have been scrapping for about 3 years but only got serious with it over the past year. I am in the Navy and scrapping has become my second job so to speak, mostly because to get some bills paid but also I needed a hobby. It has also allowed me to spend some more time with my 6 year old since he now helps me with everything, taking apart the TV's, VCRs and vacuums to off loading the truck at the scrap yard. Scrap yard loves him and is always giving him candy so its become a quality time thing. The first couple of years I didnt know to much and just threw everything in the light metal pile, basically went once a month or a couple of months. Then I started learning the craft, spent a lot of time lurking here and reading the posts. Now I know trash pickup routes and how to sort everything, I have been accumulating alot of the main computer products for the online sales but usually for all the low grade stuff I just bring to the scrap yard. Its been fun and I dont try to take it too seriously. But nice meeting everyone.

Welcome to the forum and for taking the time to intro yourself. I think it's great that you have your kid help out and that you are taking the time to learn more about how to maximize your finds.

Welcome to the forum and keep in mind I was once that kid to and was amazed by the machinery and process involved. Now it doesn't phase me at all to be around heavy machinery, mags, grapples and shears etc. That young kid could grow up to be a beast in this industry. Knowledge is everything.

Skyline couldn't be more on point. Teach a kid to fish and he can feed himself for life its the same thing with scrap.
