This is my first posting on any forum. I joined because I am so impressed by what I have seen in the last 2 days of reading here.
I used to bring in scrap batteries and rads as a teenager and then after 25 years, I started looking into scrap again. I started selling a few cats and in the last couple years , I've been learning about e scrap.
I moved to Northern BC and the small towns up here all have metal piles at the landfill that I can pick through but the closest place to sell is 2 hours away.
I found a heap of over 1000 computer monitors and maybe 800 computers and 1200 keyboards. I was trying to buy all the computers but only got 300 before someone else bought the rest.
I did get the monitors and keyboards but have not done a lot over the winter. I want to be sure I can move the glass from the CRT's. I've got 14 acres up here so I have lots of room to start storing while I figure out the best strategies.
The computers have yielded 95 ceramic CPUs and 200 black and green fiber.
I don't have a computer out where I live yet but I am house and pet sitting for my nephew for a few weeks. I took the dog for a walk in the back woods here and found a 1971 Ford F100 XLT on it's roof. The engine is lying beside it. I asked the owner and he says I can have it but I don't know how I can get it out without cutting it all up. I should be able to take a lot of smaller pieces and sell them to restorers.
I will try to read and learn and pick the brains of all you experienced scrappers. I can get vehicles up here all over for nothing. Any ideas on how to proceed would be appreciated. I have a full sized van but no way of moving vehicles yet.
Thanks for the wealth of info you've already shared.
