    Im excited about this site!

    Hi,

Ive been scrapping full time for about 5 month. I find myself asking lots of question each day. My current questions include:

    1. Should I break down circuit boards (take off copper and aluminum) or should I sell it as is.
    2. Can I sell a circuit board that are missing the copper and aluminum pieces (also no gold)
    3. Is it worth it to join the e-waste collection program in California? Is it Hard to participate in it? Is there lots of audits and stuff like that?
    4. Is it worth it to break down large office printers? It takes a little bit of time and you loose some weight in the plastic waste. I was thinking it might just be worth it to just recycle it for .05cents lb and not break it down. (.05lb is the most I can find for e-waste that isnt broken down. Is there a better price?)

Ok those are the questions I have for now. I hope this is the place where I can get answers and also where I can answer other peoples' questions.

    Thanks!

you're talking 5 cents a pound "as is", as opposed to 20 to 30 cents a pound for the transformers, copper bearing, elec motors, etc. PLUS 5 cents a pound for what's left of the board?

On low grade boards I take off anything that I can sell for more than board price. ( heat sinks, copper, transformers,IC chips) On the higher grade boards take off large heat sinks, prossers and IC chips that plug into the board. Question #2 yes you can. They pay about 10-20 cents per lbs. Question #3 I don't know, Question #4 yes it is,I brake down every to get the most money. I hope this helps a little.
