You will make more money if you take the time to read all the rest of the old threads. This forum is better than a liberal arts education, you can make money with the knowledge here. Mike

Welcome Marty I have been scrapping on the other end of the state for a few years now but have learned more from this forum and its members in the last few months than I ever learned from the guys at the scrap yard.

Lots of good free stuff around your area on craigs list. I have a buddy near you that is always telling me about the free tvs/computers and other ramdom scrap metal he sees on there. He has me thinking about movin out that there.

Just be sure to read about the safe way to discharge and dispose of CRTs before you jump into a big pile of them. You dont wanna end up with some Crispy Tater Tots

Yes, Asheville is a haven for freebies. People here give away so much scrap each day, in theory, you could make a living off of just that stream alone. I don't mess around too much with TVs or CRTs. I have scrapped 3 TVs so far without incident. I doubt I will do many more. I'm mainly focused on PC towers and other small electronics such as printers, etc.
