    Hello from York, PA

    Hello Everyone,

My name is Chris and I live in York, PA. I've been reading these forums for a while now and finally decided to join in on the discussions.

I have a full time job in Information Technology and have a side business of recycling computers. I've been recycling/scrapping for about 3 years. I started my side business because I wanted a backup plan in case something happened to my job. We all no how this crazy economy has been over the past 4 - 5 years!!

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and I look forward to meeting all of you.

    Chris

    Welcome to the forum!

York, Pa huh? I had family from there, think they all moved south or to NY. LOL. Loved the farmers market they have there. Next time I'm up that way I need to remember to hit it up.

You'll hear it alot here, but..the search function will be your best friend. Our scrapping wizards get worn out fingers if they have to reply to stuff that's already been asked. So remember that search you do today just might save someones fingers for doing important things like..opening a beer, or you know breaking down scrap.

Again welcome to the forums, and can't wait to hear about your own scrapping adventures and whatnot!

Sirscrapalot - Using the search function to save your fingers. Your welcome.

Since we have two of you PA folks....Either of you know where in PA I can find bloody Liberty Ale? Had some at a wedding up there a couple years back, decent brew and my wife loved it. Never could find any at the local stores though while we were up there. PA brewed ale if I recall correctly.

I hope its not in Philly tho, being born and raised in DC I might just burst into flames if I have to step foot in Eagle Country.

Sirscrapalot - Likes PA. Doesn't like the Eagles. For that matter, don't like the Redskins either..hahaha!

Should be able to get it at Wegmans in six packs. Otherwise you are going to be forced to buy a case from a package store. The state is strange about their booze.

Chalk up a third Pennsy resident who just joined. I'm in the same boat but over in Bucks County. IT Professional who has a boss (along with myself) that has been scrapping computers on the side. Haven't cashed anything in yet though, so far we've just been stockpiling the scrap.

Sirscrapalot - I've never heard of that ale but that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist. Let me check around and see where you might be able to get it.

High Voltage - Let me know the next time you're going to be in my area. Maybe we can make a deal.

JustInTime - Glad to see that High Voltage and I aren't the only PA residents on here!! Are you stockpiling because you don't know who to sell to or just stockpiling because you want one big payday? There are many buyers on this forum and I know of a precious metal refinery north of Philly. Their pay is so-so. Might be worth your time to check them out. PM me if you want information on the precious metal refinery.

Sirscrap - If you're ever in the New Hope / Buckingham area there's a take out place at the intersection of 412/202 called the Candlewick that has an incredible selection of beer. Could also likely find it up at Shangy's in Emmaus, just outside of Allentown. If it's Liberty Pale Ale that you're looking for, it's likely they'll have it.

And thank you Mechanic and CAW. Basically stockpiling now cause we're not quite sure where to get rid of it for the best price. I think the boss is a little hesitant to ship it off simply because he's of the mindset that we'll get a better price finding something relatively local. I've so far only found one place in the area that takes scrap computer parts and that's down in Northeast Philly.

    Thanks guys!!

You guys are awesome, thanks for the heads up where to find it! Thinking of making a trip up this summer, to visit the market there in York. Now I got the added bonus of finding that ale! We looked all over before leaving an never found it at any of the stores we visited.

Bonus points for mentioning Wegmans..love that store, only thing I miss about not being in Va anymore is I don't have a Wegmans down here on my sandbar.

    Sirscrapalot -
