    Cool Goodman checking in and saying hi.

    Been scrapping seriously for about 7 or 8 months now.Learned quite a bit so far but still far from an expert.Started in on scrapping just to fill the carpentry void then the void opened up into an abyss.Been tearing apart anything with copper and aluminum and cleaning yards,cutting up and hauling vehicles.Starting to look at e-scrap now,tv's,cpu's,monitors etc....just collecting components right now until I can get some information on how far to breakdown circuit boards and what not.By the way does anybody know if there is a market for those carbon like elements on the back of tv tubes and what they're called?

    Welcome, And I belive that "carbon" looking stuff is Fertite or ferlite or something like that. I personally dont save it

    If your talking about what the copper is wrapped around then that is ferrite, and it is magnetic(a magnet will stick to it). I throw it in my shred(steel) bucket and if your(not you specifically) throwing it away, your throwing away money. This is compliments of Wiki;

    Welcome to the forum. The ferrite that is on the back of the tube with copper wound around goes in the shred(after you remove the copper). Ferrite has iron in it. Put a magnet on it and that will answer your question.
