Selling Washers and Dryers for more $$$$$$

A buddy of mine who also scraps e-scrap and regular scrap gave me a very nice call today about a new connection he made with an appliance repairmen in a neighboring town. This guy is buying certain brands of washers/dryers, and will pay $20-$40 each (working or broken).

I always said that I'd love to buy some ground and set up a building with plenty of space, hire an appliance repair person, and let them go to town on all the nice appliances I bring in (a lot of which are very easily repaired, as I'm sure you have the same experiences). People are ALWAYS looking for cheap, working appliances, especially in an economy where hardly anyone has "new appliance" money.

Anyway, it just goes to show that you should always look around for people who will pay you more for your scrap. Even though I focus on e-scrap these days, I'll still go out and pick up appliances (which is how I got started), as I still get calls every day to do just that.

This even has an impact on how far I might go for a load and other aspects of the business - because now, that single pick-up that I might have passed up a few weeks ago could now be well worth picking up.

    Anyway, just thought I'd share.
