you CAN also sell said laptops including the keyboards if you remove nicely for PARTS....and generally you can sell many laptops for FAR more than scrap value as a parts/non working machine....the screens are the most expensive thing generally in them, so even older ones with good screens are worth more than breaking it down...ESPECIALLY if you factor in the time it takes (they are a PITA)
Just sayin....ALWAYS check Ebay for the market for parts machines, parts for different things like say a dyson vacuum (hint - the hoses and canisters sell for more than you will get in plastic)...really all sorts of stuff sell for parts. Scrap is the LAST place to send something valuewise.
