Lost Knives

I was wondering if you guys ever do this . Lose your folding knives you carry ?. Well early this morning I was coming home from curb shopping and stopped to look for tennis balls ( look at my other thread lol) . I got home realized my folding knife wasn't in my pocket , I went back by the courts to retrace my steps since its two blocks away. couldn't find it. I Don't remember the last time I had it this morning. So it could have fell out when I was getting in and out of the truck curb shopping or It may be in the truck , I looked but not extensively. It was a cheap Harbor freight Knife so monetary value isn't an issue . I Looked it up but couldn't find it . My question for you guys is have you ever heard of a legal obligation to report a knife if you lose it ?. I know it sounds silly but I don't know everything , even though most of us silly kids think we do lol. I need some info from our wise forum members

This will be answered not as a wise forum member, but as a person that is constantly loosing knives. In the rural areas, it is no big deal and more the norm than the exception. Law enforcement does not have time to deal with every lost knife. If I had a penny for every knife I lost, I would be able to buy another knife.

I just found someones pocket knife the other day at work! haha I miss place my knife from time to time, but wouldnt think to report it. Most times I have no clue where I left it anyways. Most of the time mine is between my seat and console. Good luck

Boy you have some funny laws in the US of A.

Having a knife was a weapon is illegal here, but if you actully have a reason its OK.
Hardly anyone would carry a knife here anyway. We don't have 'open container' laws in NZ, just certain 'no alcohol zones in city centres.

We have laws that the knife can't be too long, or it can be considered a weapon. There are also places where even a pocket knife can be excluded, but for the most part, carrying a knife is not a problem. We are also allowed to carry guns, but there are restrictions to where we can carry them, too.

For a long time I did not carry a knife because they were uncomfortable in my pocket, but I found a nice slim stainless steel folding knife that I don't even know is in my pocket. I have picked up a couple others that are similar, and I have lost one, but there would be no requirement to report the loss, any more than a requirement to report the loss of a lighter or pack of cigs. There are just too many knives lying around and available to anyone, anyplace, anytime, to consider a lost pocket knife a problem.

6 inch is the legal limit if I recall, without going into "deadly weapon" status or whatever. An 16 if I recall to buy one. Its been a VERY long time since I've had worry about it.

Only in England do they have strict laws on knives. Here, one of my coworkers "found" a lost knife just a few days ago in her tire. OOPS.

Here in the UK its the same .....luckly i need one for my work so can carry one-subject to size..
