I've never been to that area, but after Tatooine here in Wyoming, the DEQ has gotten very aggressive with CRTs. I'm glad to be done with them. The peace of mind is alone worth it. I don't know if there is any place that does HVAC recovery near you. Out here, there's a place that takes freezers/refrigerators/air conditioners for free. They don't charge for the freon removal. They don't pick up. They use a flatbed triple axle gooseneck and a Dodge 3500 diesel. Their trailer goes up to the larger feeder yard once a month. For a town with only 10,000 people, they sure seem to get a lot of that stuff.

Yeah really. I'm pretty sure the guy I got the truck from was a dealer but everything was legit when I went to register so that was good. Truck was made in Canada and is pushing 285,000 miles(282,800) on all original hardware(except the tires). Told the wife when the odometer gets up to 999,000 miles I was going to notch out a spot and add a digit to count the millionth mile lol. Regarding licensing: I'm not sure what Onondaga county requires for recyclers, but I'm not a recycler so I fall in that gray area(like most home based business' that aren't licensed, regulated, etc..). Good example are those gold buying places that are based out of some dudes living room. I'm not that bad as I do pickup only. Regarding HVAC: The places around me do offer HVAC recovery but they want the appliance also. I'll have to hold off on accepting anything with refrigerants till I can afford to get the pump and tank myself because letting a 3rd party recover and accept is a loss of profit. I also started a facebook petition but I don't think it'd be acceptable to post it here.

The company I work for is R2/RIOS certified. These are two of the highest certifications in the electronics recycling industry. We work hard to maintain them and go through rigorous third party audits on a regular basis. What this means is, we do our due diligence. Not only do we know where our "guy" sends CRT's, we know where his "guy" sends CRT's, and so on and so forth. The point I was trying to make in my post about the other companies was that there are a lot of companies working on the CRT problem. Some of the heavy hitters in this industry are also working on solutions.

With the exception to those on here that are R2 certified, how many scrappers do you know of that accept CRTs that process them correctly? I don't know of any outside NuLife. Speaking of, thanks for that article. Only shows their persistence to build facilities to process CRTs(especially with the collapse of the CRT processing facility that was there. I forget the town or the name of the place).

NuLife Glass has had an independent third party audit preformed by Greeneye Partners, so they are legit.
