This is a dumb question, but I wonder: are there any types of designations that might not be up to R2 / e-stewards "certification" level, but maybe sound good on a card or other advertising? If so, though it doesn't cover the clients who mandate R2, maybe hit a slightly higher threshold? I'm thinking along the lines of some insurance agents and/or financial planners who have a series of "letters" behind their name reflecting various licensing and training they have obtained.
One simple example is the basic
freon removal training (as I understand it, cheap & online). Then you have that basic "certification" for
freon removal. What other opportunities might exist for things like that which we could add to our resumes? I wonder if any recycling organizations (nonprofits?), community colleges / tech schools, etc. might have "designations" they can provide if you take a class or something?
Maybe SMF can start awarding designations - what higher authority for us, after all? MSW might stand for Masters in Social Work for some folks....here it's a Master in Scrap Work. Doctorates, advanced certifications, etc ..... I jest (somewhat), but see where I'm headed with this?
Anyway, at the level I'm at, I'm a LONG way off from ever acquiring R2...but who knows what the future holds? I'm just thinking in the near term about low (or relatively low) cost alternatives.
