Electronics questions

I don't have much experience scrapping electronics besides the occasional TV, and I was thinking about getting into it more. Most scrappers in my area don't take electronics so I think I could get quite a few things. My questions are:

How much can I expect to get from TVs, PC monitors, PC towers, cell phones, printers/ scanners, DVD players, etc.?

Are there any other common electronic devices that I'm missing in the list?

I'm sure I'll come up with more questions, but that's all I can think of for now. Thanks

I pick up all electronics, mainly just for fun. Most have wires, not always alot but something. Most have motors and similar..Aluminum heat sinks on circuit boards, and salvage gold on circuits including inside cell phones.

Printers/Faxers - I only pick these up for the power cord, and ink cartridges. Office Depot recycles them 20 carts a month per OD card, and in return, gives you $2.00 per cart in gift card form via mail.

Flat Screens - They have an aluminum shell inside the screen.

I've been grabbing electronics as of late because nobody wants to fool with them. Never thought about the gold in the cell phones. I'm guessing you have to save a lot of them and sell them on ebay?

I posted a reply on another post that applies to this one as well.
When you are getting into E-Waste recycling, you guys had better check with your Local State and Fed DEHEC and EPA laws.
Most states are cracking down on this stuff.
Many are requiring Certification and believe me, it isn't worth the "fines" for the little return on a few pounds of copper,etc. if you get caught doing "illegal E-Waste Recycling".
Unless you are serious and planning on getting into E-waste in a big way, it is best left alone to those who have made the LARGE investment.
There are a lot of variables in this field, so check it out GOOD before continuing in it.

I agree. part of the reason that I do this is because of the good feeling I get knowing that I am helping the environment to some degree. The main reason I do it is for money, but that other part is still there.
