Okay, this isn't anything fancy or ground breaking, but it worked.
My mom brought me some ducklings.....so what did I do.....looked around and spotted a half torn apart dryer....light bulb comes on and a few minutes later.......

I like it but I really like the little brown hairy person who has gained a whole new entertainment device.
I can almost hear him/her say "Thanks for the toys and dinner, Mom"

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked
lol....Daisy, she a 8lb miniature pinscher mix, Ducks will reach 6 to 8lb and are buff orpingtons.
Daisy doesn't really know what to do with them, nor them with her, but you would think she learned after the whole mocking bird thing...lol
Oh, the Dryer was a whirlpool. Took the wiring harness off and used it to rewired the one I have in the house.
Seriously into the "real" recycling, reusing, re-purposing. Good job, Mike.
Hate to disagree, but buff orpington is a breed of chicken, not ducks. I can't see in your photo well enough to make a call.
I don't have a "duck" in this fight..but if you google buff Orpington Duck..images pop of ducks, an on a duck/chicken forum they even call them ducks.

Buff Orpington Duck..aka Buff Duck
Haha..I learn something new every day on this forum, whether it's about scrap, or ducks..
I know nothing about ducks, cept what I just learned by Googling. So..yea..don't yell at me, yell at Google an the results they gave me an the people who post it.
Sirscrapalot - All quacked up.

That wasn't a lot of typing Jord! You should know, I can type much more. LOL. Just got me curious an hate seeing someone called out when the person doing the calling is wrong, or I should say both of them are right.
The same guy who created those ducks did the chickens..so both are right!
Either way..I learned something new today.
Sirscrapalot - Everything is just 'Ducky'.
LOL
Okay, okay, you caught me. I guess technically they are called "Buff", but also referred to as Buff Orpington,...IDK "you say tomato, I say tomahto"
I do know that they look like ducks, it was a dryer....and...well....the dog, I still have my suspicions.....
If anyone is interested, here some more information on the ducks.....
According to the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy the ducks are on the threaten list of farm breeds. American Livestock Breeds Conservancy - Breeds Information
and McMurray. Murray McMurray Hatchery - Buff Ducks
Yeah i forgot you can write some pretty decent novels now and than! LOL im just duckin around (ok enough with the duck jokes)
ScrapD..you were correct on the name tho they do go by Buff Duck also, etc etc. Wikipedia is my friend! If you click it calls it buff but refers to them by the name you used. Both created by the same guy. An I gotta ask...are they pets, do you use them for eggs, or for the meat? I see they are used for both eggs an meat. I'm curious an it's your fault so now your stuck answering my questions. I dub thee the resident Duck King.
Can't help you on the dog. Your on your own. Tho it's a cute little duck guard. You should post a pic in the dog thread we have on here somewhere.
edit - Jord your post slipped in while I was making this..so I say to you sir..Pththtbtbtbt!

It's all Jord's fault with his ducking around.

Mech is correct with the Queen and SirScrap no feathers were ruffled.
Nice reuse and nice ducks. I have a dryer in the barn I was planning to turn into a bottle tumbler. I collect antique glass and if you have a bottle that is really worn and covered with haze, you can tumble it in a PVC tube with abrasives, like a gem stone. Havent gotten around to it yet. Pro bottle tumblers use rubber covered steel rollers to spin the PVC, but this would be a quick solution.
Apologies to the OP and thanks for expanding my knowledge. No offence intended.
Tdean, I had to do a little internet searching on bottle cleaning and it is truly amazing how well those bottles clean up.
Musicman, no worries, it's all good. With the help of Miked it got the discussion going for sure and I appreciate that. I was defended by a Knight and made a queen by Mechanic
I have been avoiding the news of the ducks, unfortunately they where all killed by a mass murderer and I will have to regroup. They were fine in the dryer enclosure, but when I moved them to a larger area with wire instead, it failed, so my next time I am going to make a fort with several dryers for the little ones.

"I hope you heard that. She called me a noble steed. She think I'm a steed." - Donkey from Shrek.
"I hope you heard that. She called me a Knight. She thinks I'm a Knight!" - Sirscrapalot from SMF

Sirscrapalot - "Now I'm a flyin', talkin' donkey! You mighta seen a housefly, maybe even a superfly. But I bet you ain't neva seen a donkey fly!" - Donkey again from Shrek
