This is a sawmill my good friend made from
scrap metal. 5hp engine belt driven with a clutch sorta like a rider mower deck. The saw rides on tracks on the trailer and is raised and lowered with a crank off a boat trailer. He brought it over last week to saw up some logs I had saved for a project and it worked real slick. He wants to switch the driveshaft with a hub of sorts as the shaft is parted in and a custom bracket isn't the strongest. the blade has wooden guides and rear bearing guides he is working on a top and bottom bearing guide as well. one of those tinkering projects that's never quite finished.
I traded some used heavy equipment blades some 1/4" thick angle iron and some canned goods for the 2 hours it took him and myself to saw up my 5 logs. I have a feeling this won't be the last time I help run this machine we worked real well together.
The tractor is a 1957 ford 640
