Copper rail road spike? Why not!

So I was itching to try out my casting sand, and I kind of have a thing for rail road spikes for smithing...so I thought, what a great way to test petrobond out!

Note: Do not forget to remove the molded item from the molds before pouring

I'll keep them coming as long as I have some ideas and my wife lets me out to play

If I ever get enough silver to make one...you better believe I will!

    WoW ! That's impressive !

I'd love to see a Bronze spike, or Brass. That 'Old world' effect that the Copper spike's got is great.

I notice ( I have to, I've done some casting metal too..) The pourer, we just used a spoon to carve a small dish beside the pourer & cut a short smooth channel to the pourer, then poured into the dish & once it filled, the molten Ali went into the channel & then down the side of the pourer hole.

You got a very good casting each time, which isn't easy, i had a few 'dropped' molds.

I'll try to spoon a channel, sounds like a good idea - tried making a crater, but I think that made too much material trying to make its way down the channel at once.

I'd like to get some aluminium bronze and brass, and if I ever find a source of tin, classic bronze - make my own little redneck collection of materials. I'm tempted to attempt polishing as well, but I'm not as excited about that idea as pouring some more castings.
