first off, thanks for the responses. i have free time on my hands so i TRIED removing the stud and after a few failed attempts with a couple of busted knuckles and a near cutting disk laceration, i took one of the head with me to my scrap yard. she is going to give me dirty aluminum prices. the heads are not worth resale or at least i wouldn't use them if i was still building VW engines. i also found out today that the chrome bezels on the taillights and around the headlights are chromed brass and the front turnsignal covers are stainless along with all the screws that hold them on.
