    satellite dish?

What metal is in satellite dishes - Im not talking about the bigger ones. But the ones we have on our home.

Saw one the other day on the curb and didn't pick it up.
    Maybe I should have.....

i don't usually scrap ferrous metals. So i neglected it. but im thinking it was maybe aluminum and thats why I regret not grabbing it!.

Please let me know if you know!

    Thanks!

I don't know whether or not it's true for all of them, but all the ones I've tested are ferrous. It would have only taken you a few seconds to jump out and put your magnet on it.

There's usually wire inside, and at the end of the long skinny pole that sticks out from the dish to face the bowl, that is something i havent figured out yet, but it's non magnetic.

That is a thing they call an LNA, short for low noise amplifier. Don't know what the little ones are made of, the large ones off the 8' dishes were cast aluminum with a circuit board and a lot of minute gold plating. Hope this helps,,,

Just took some down from my house.
It is all steel or whatever, magnet definately sticks.

The part with the plastic cover where the arm bends - and the wire connects - there is aluminum there.
Just took down 3 dishes probly about 20 pounds of steel
    and 2- 3 pounds of aluminum .

    Not very lucrative.
