This tread is a good read. It puts into perspective on what scrappers have to deal with on a daily basis.

For the most part, my shred pile is “mostly” hidden from the road. Any PM is indoors out of sight. One dumpster find I did a bunch years back, a business upgraded there security system and tossed the small yard signs and the face plates to the key pads. They have a nice new home in my yard and on my wall next to the front door. A visible deterrent is worth a lot, whether or not it’s activated. They won’t take that chance.

I’m what most would call in the country, but still only 15 mins from the city. There are only two scrap yards in my area and they both keep good records of every transaction (photo id, signatures and vehicle photos). So its peace of mind if something were to happen, there are ways to follow up on it.

Protect your stuff. We worked hard for what we have.

Keep scrapping and Good Luck out there.
