handle everything like gold until you research the value

didn't find anything on a victor 2000 but a victor 9000 popped up here in the museum : Welcome to OLD-COMPUTERS.COM !

    ti-994A - I had one of these as a kid! $20
    Commodore 128 - $100-$200
    Commodore monitor _$25-$50
    Printer ?
paper (just use as scratch paper.)
    TRS-80 ~$100

Victor 2000 (only reference to this i can find is a cash register?)

Make sure to find all the software and peripherals you can for these machines. That adds lots of value. Don't scrap these!

In the last batch I got from her a few weeks ago I got a dozen or so Commodore 64 computers w/o the monitor so I am hoping this monitor works so I can test them.

so far this is what I have sorted out. I am going slowly and putting stuff on Ebay as I go...

    19 - sealed 10 packs of 5.25" floppy disks
2 - Commodore 1541 Drives (1 works, the other has problems)
    1 - Commodore 1571 Drive (works)
4 - Commodore 128 computers (no power supplies) (3 in rough shape I am selling in lot as is, other will keep until I get a cord)
2 - TI 99/4a computers (both work) w/ 9 programs and bunch of manuals and paperwork
    4 - Commodore 64 (3 work)

    will continue testing everything else

    Just a small update...

Ebay sales = $192.10 after all fees (say maybe 25% off material)
Ewaste = Sending a 59 Lbs. box to Ewasted this week

I am giving the person 10% of the profit. Since she was just giving this all away, I think she will be happy.

Still have a Vintage Apple to test, 2 Commodore Monitors, Victor 9000, plus a bunch of other stuff. Even had a few unopened boxes of 8" Floppy Disks. Biggest thing is finding the time to test everything out.

I think it might be a good idea sharing some money with the person who gave it to you but I don't think I would mention 10%. Some times folks get upset and think you made too much off a deal. They rarely take into account the effort taken to market stuff. Mike.

I won't mention the 10%, just going to send her a check. She isn't expecting any money so I think she will be happy with any amount.

Also I think 10% is fair since I had to pick up the material (220 miles round trip) and so ask the testing and dismantling. What do you guys think?

TI99/4A...I have one at my parents from when my brothers were kids. I used to hook it up and play Hunt The Wumpus and Burgertime. I will have to unearth it and amuse myself again.

a check showing up in the mail feels to me more impersonal and sorta like conscience money

i would suggest a gift card because it says more of a thank you for the gift she gave you

I think it depends on what the persons motivation is to getting rid of the stuff. If they are doing it for the environment or just to clear out their garage I wouldnt give them money. You are doing them a favor not the other way around.

I forget the specifics but, there was a study done with people that donate blood to the blood bank. When the blood bank didnt pay blood donors they would get more people to participate then when they paid blood donor. This is because people were more motivated about the idea to give blood to save lives than to make money. What is your clients motivation to give you the stuff?

I would just send a thank you letter with business magnet, or t-shirt.
