Don't pass up that junk boat ---- take it with you

i usually keep a booster box with me and its has air on it to pump up flat tires --- every time i see a junk boat i always ask about it ... alot of times they will give it too you ..... 25 dollars to dump the boat and you have a trailer ---- single axle trailers go for 100 - 300 and the double axle trailers i usually keep and built to use for scrapping ... also in your spare time just go to boats on cl and type in free ---- nice way to add extra income

usually boat trailers are adjustable to move the axle's forward and shorten the tongue .... if you plan on keeping and building it ...

When we first started hauling autos and other scrap in 05 we thought there was money to be made in boats with the trailers, engines ect. Wasn't long till we ended up taking most of the trailers and other stuff to the scrap yard because no one would buy them.

Part out a pickup truck or suv thats on a frame. You can make the rolling chassis into a trailer. Or make a pickup bed trailer. Either way its cheap. The problem i see is there is so many trailer options and the market is so bad right now that you should be able to get a nice 20+ foot trailer pretty cheap anyway.

city dump here 25 per ton .... just picked up 2 boats last night and i doubt that either boat is even close to 7 - 800 pounds .... sierra waste dump fees are 32 per ton with a min charge of 20 buck for less than 1k pounds so an 800 pound boat is 20 bucks ....

Dont find many free boats around here, they think any old junker is worth a fortune, even if its tired old fiberglass, the'll try to give ya the boat and want you to buy the trailer. went to an auction recently, the boat had a tree growing thru the floor, they still bid the trailer up to 500 bucks

Be careful cutting up fiberglass, it will make you itch for two days. Most boat trailers are not rated to carry heavy weights unless it's a large tri-axle. So be careful how much weight you put on them. The frames are good because they are galvanized steel but the axles are weak.

Or Older Aluminum Bass Boats you can sell on Craigslist for people who like to restore and Modify boats, You can get more then just scrapping it. Heck, I'm looking at a boat in a Scrap Yard's Car lot I might buy and restore. Don't just scrap it.

    Aluminum Boats

    14-15 ft aluminum boat

What about something like this if you could get it for $200 or less?
About what would the engine alone get as scrap?
Sell some of the lights and fittings?
Will the hull need to be cut up? If so just cut off anything not aluminum so you have a pile of clean and another of dirty aluminum.
I wounder how many SS fasteners on a boat like this.
    Chris
