Send items to an auction if they have any value!

ebay or other?

I used to sell alot of stuff at auction when I was buying storage units. That was before storage units started going for crazy money. I also used to curb shop and dumster dive and sell the things I found at auction, if they didn't sell or if the auctionier didn't want the stuff in his auction then I would scrap it. That's how I got started scrapping. My friend found a set of 6 cast iron frying pans in a dumster and sold them at auction for 65.00. Not bad for something someone threw in the dumster.

I run a lot of stuff through auctions as well. Even more so since it's gotten a lot worse as far as no shows, time wasters and low ballers from Craigslist.

Let the auction deal with those headaches and I'll keep on breaking down scrap.

Tell me if I have this right. You bring them the items. They sell them, ship and send you a check? What about unsold items do you have to take them back or do they go in next auction.

I sell over 50 items a week on there.

I do this as well. Everything i pick up that is in decent shape I take to a consignment auction monthly. They unload my truck, sell everything, take 25% and mail me a check 2 days later. Most recently I took 4 lawn mowers, 4 golf club bags full of golf clubs, 9 bundles of shingles, and about 200 pounds of new rolls of alarm wire. All which I got for free, along woth some other random things and my check was $826.50. If yoy can find a consignment auction almost everything goes for more than scrap value.

To the guys that do this is there a minimum amount of items you have to give them? I may have to look into this. I have a few things that I put on craigslist for sale when I get them to work and it'd be great if I can just run them to a company and let them sell them for me.

I would imagine that it varies by company.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. There is an auction house near me that does on-line auctions. They have a LARGE regular following. As soon as their warehouse fills up, they have an auction.

Thanks for posting this Burly. I am going to drop some stuff off at a consignment store that is close by where they sell stuff on ebay for 35% of sale and 25% if more than $1000. Hopefully it goes well.
