If you find old electronics they may be worth more to sell as is. I work on computers for a living and restore old electronics as a hobby. Some old electronics are valuable and most do not know it. about 20 years ago a old man called me up and asked if I wanted his old tube junk. I went over to haul it off. One radio case caught my eye so I put it in my trucks cab. I looked for the chassis in the junk and put it up in the cab as well. He had been using this one for parts to fix radios to sell for 5 bucks apiece. What he didn't know is at that time the fada radio I found was worth a grad or more then restored. I pieced it together and still have it.
TVs are another thing that may have value. The newer LCD and flat screens you might could sale to someone who fixes them. Many new TVs have issues with capacitors and they are a easy fix. Then id they are not the issue they may have value as parts. Another is the old Wooden TV cases. I use to check out TVs for a guy who had a second hand store. If the TV was junk I got to keep the parts but I took the gutted case to him. He would add one board and sell it as a book case for 5 bucks. Not bad money for him to take 5 minutes to fix it 25 years ago. Today I have seen them as dog houses people put in their house.
Other old TVs and items to look for is anything with tubes. A lot of old tube TVs can be worth a little money. If you are lucky and find a RCA CT100 you can get a big price for it. Junk it you may get pennies on the dollar. I have heard of these nonworking going for hundreds of dollars to thousands restored. The old round screen tubes are popular as well.. Even some in the 60s may be worth a few bucks. I have seen quite a few of them go for 25,50, or more bucks each. I am going ot a radio meet and I know there is a 1949 TV that will be there. I may buy it if it isn't gone. The price is 100 bucks. So this old stuff can be worth stuff. The old high voltage coils new in the box also brings good money.
One thing big right now is stereos. I specialize in table top tube radios but hte hot ticket items is the stereos from the 60s and 70s. If it has tubes it can be a gold mine. The old boxy type radio, record players that were in cabinets can bring big money. There were a few that had seperate tube amps built into them. Then the radio and record player plugged into them. I saw one of these go for well over 150 bucks unrestored on
ebay. I just got done rebuilding one for a fellow. This amp would probably worth well over 300 after I was finished.
So whe nyou see a old shed someone wants the junk gone if it has some type of electronics in it do a search to see if it has any value.
