Dtk data 1000

So I go on a pick up today and a guy gives me a DTK Data 1000. I mean gives.

Now...I just popped the cover off and I haven't done anything else. I can find very little about it online. Can anyone share any info on it?

The only other info I have is:

TRADE NAME: TURBO-10

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I was just a bit excited at the prospect of this being a decent piece to find.

What I meant say was, does anyone know anything about the value of the computer? One of the links that I found (as did Bear) shows that it sold for $75 dollars in 2005. There aren't any listings that I could find on ebay. There is only one place online that has a "sale price" but they say that they are out of stock. Is this something I should break down or something I should try to sell as is?

Also, just by popping the cover off, I couldn't see where the processor is. That is most likely because I am utterly out of my realm with a computer of this age. I've never had the opportunity, until about an hour ago, to open one up. Geez...I haven't even seen one since I was in elementary school in the 70s.

haha, your post is the 4th one ; ) when i first saw the name I was thinking it would be an old tape back up drive. You got any way to hook it up and turn it on ?

It'll probably bring more parted out, Motherboard & CPU, hard drive etc . Does it have the 20MB hard drive? It would help if you could power it up and see if it's (even somewhat) working. I'm not sure what kind of power supply it's got, but that could be worth listing too

I found the IC chip. It says:

SEIMANS
SAB 8088-1-P
Intel 1978

I can't tell what the hard drive is. BUT it is 8 inches long, 6 inches wide and about 3 inches deep.

It also has the 5.25 in floppy drive.

I have the monitor as well. I'll see if I have a power cable to fit it.

Its bed time here...so I'll see if I can power it up in the morning.

Ok, I got this to power up today. It seems that the hard drive is working. The monitor works. I don't have a keyboard that works with it to go past the screen where it asks me to enter the date.

Here is what I see on the screen:

So, it seems it works....any ideas on prices or where I might be able to sell this? I know I don't want to scrap it.

Unless you can find some prices on one somewhere, about the best way I know to do it would be a ten day auction and just let the chips fall, hoping that ten days gives enough of the right people enough time to see it

you should look for an old keyboard with the large connector and keep it around to use for the older machines. A serial connector mouse too

Clone XT class machines are worth more then scrap, but how much more depends on condition and what is included and who is looking for one at any given time. Tested working is worth more then unknown condition (complete or in parts). Pictures would help out (inside and outside).

Even the large plug keyboards will not work on all machines, there are PC/XT only keyboards and then the 286 and after ones that will work on anything even a PS/2 type plug(with a cheap adapter).

I found that out when I plugged in a large connector keyboard, but it was newer, relatively speaking, than the Data 1000. I'll put up some pics in a couple of weeks. Just started my vacation traveling today. Going home to see family, so not too much of a vacation, but on the plus side...not very expensive!
