Dishwasher racks - Page 2

I work in the apt biz and I know firsthand about the d.w. racks. 189.00 for one rack for a d.w. that sells for 300.00 . We usually just put a new d.w. in. Check with local management companies and apt. complexes to see what models/brands they use.

So ive heard . They will sell if i can get them. The only obstacle i face is getting to the dishwashers at the yard before they crush them to make room

How about this - I see a lot of installers dumping their dishwashers at the yard. Offer to pay them what they get at the yard, but you come and pick them up. Then, just dump them at the yard, and keep the racks.

Like the idea ryan ! . What kind of installers you thinking about guys from chains like home depot or small time contractors ? Who would you contact ?

Just hang out at the yard. At least where I go, I see the same people dumping dishwashers every day. There are three at least, and that's only when I go (around 8 AM). It would be easier to talk to these guys because they're already getting money for the dishwashers, and basically know how it works.

Following up - did you get any leads from this?

I havent meet anybody dropping them off lol . Only found them in the pile . Bought a frigidaire upper rack for $1 . Got it listed , probably going to yard today or tommorow.

With all the dishwashers I have waiting to scrap (still close to 200) I would like to find someone in my area who puts them on ebay. I would bring them to them and let them mess with listing them and getting them sent off, then we split the profits 50/50. With working a full time job I just do not have time to mess with putting them on ebay and doing everthing else I need to do.

Ill take a trip down to texas fill my truck and sell em for ya lol. Hell of a trip from jersey but I need a a vacation lol

Same here. And the new dishwasher racks is the money makers.

Also not just the racks. Get the model number go to a site like sears direct put the model number in and get all the part numbers for all the parts. Way easier and faster sell on ebay with part numbers

The motor in a dishwasher is normally cast Ali housing with a nice 'Copper on steel' winding in it.
The pumps another part with Copper wiring, normally 50 - 75grams and the two water inlet solenoids are 25 grams Copper each. They are both easy 'pick n pop' sources of Copper.
To get the Copper out of the solienoids, insert a screwdriver blade into each end and snap the plastic housing in 1/2, then pull opne end out and wind the Copper onto something. I can do 2 or 3 at the same time.

The stainless steel spray arms wear on their wear surface, there should be a Tefon washer there too.
5 out of 10 dishwasher are dumped because of that. They wear thru and the arm drops and suddenly the washer will not spray and clean the dishes.

Its a easy fix, just remove it and replace it. Easy to find out this problem, just grab the arm and wiggle it, if it moves up and down a lot, its worn thru.

I have found stainless steel dishwashers to be thing most likely to slice you. So I grab these bits and dump the rest.
Wear gloves when working with these, and arm/wrist protection.

Don't forget Craigslist or if you are on Facebook, a LOT of communities, towns or townships now have pages where you can list things for sale locally. I don't like Ebay anymore. Prices are from Mars on a lot of things plus shipping gets tough in a situation like this. We meet at local stores or shopping centers in public. I just picked up a washer and dryer this past week and listed them on local community Facebook page and they were both sold in minutes. The dryer buyer even paid us for delivery which we did not ask for. All the best with it either way.
