Pentium D Refurbished systems going for $245

I saw this on daily deals today -

Dell Dual Core 3 0 GHz Desktop Computer PC 4 GB RAM 1 TB HDD Windows 7 Pro 64 | eBay

Even so with the 1TB hard drive, if I could get that much for a refurbished machine, I'd be reconsidering how I sell things!

Good luck trying. People need to look at what an average price (for mass produced commodity hardware) is for something that actually sells for on ebay and not what one data point shows.

Be careful selling refurbs, if you can't provide the OEM key or the certified refurbisher/rebuilders windows key you can't legally sell refurbished systems with windows. Pentium D systems were XP systems that's why I've pointed that out.

adding windows 7 to any machine adds about $75 to the value of a machine. I am currently working on my microsoft registered refurb cert. Matter of fact all i need to do is get a tax license and I am in. Anyone can do it. Then you have to buy the windows disk packs from a wholeseller at about $35 a copy. I was thinking of doing it just for a few machines for ebay sales to try and up profits. Not sure I want to though cause then your the tech support. With that being said i just sold some dell optiplex 760 machines USFF with 4gb ram and 80gb hard drives for $95 each with no OS. Dell Optiplex 760 USFF Core 2 Duo E8500 3 16GHz 4GB DDR2 80GB HDD DVDRW AC Power | eBay i have 6 and have sold 4. so why anyone would pay 245 fore a pentium d machine when the can get a core 2 for less than half is beyond me

I can build brand new quad core amd machine with case for 205 bucks with everything there except the 1tb hdd...component for component the pentium D is a 8 year old chip..which was the precursor to the core 2duo and vPro both of which came out in 2008. I sell dual core systems of all types tower only with factory OS (vista in most cases) for 80-125 bucks, with a dell 15 or 17" monitor we add 20. All we do is wipe, reload, clean the guts, and out the door it goes to the retailer. Been doing it more and more lately. If you can repeat sell a pentium D machine on a regular basis, then by god make hay. I wouldn't suggest that as your mean value though...not even close.

PTS - I'm in the MS Refurbisher program, although I have only used it for a few machines for a couple local businesses. I normally don't sell whole machines, and if I do, it's in a larger lot of 10 or more. Like you said, this keeps me out of being tech support for people.

I just thought it was amazing that over 500 people bought those systems I put a link to.
