hey guys was doing some work and was surprised when I stumbled on to this . I was surprised to see theres value in used VCRS on ebay.

VCR's are still a fine way to watch a movie and these days you can find 100's of VCR tapes in the trash

You can buy them from some stores still. Just not the movies. an usually with a dvd combo. An yes, they are great for movies still. I added over 75 movies recently from 80s and 90s, an it cost me less then 20 bucks for all the movies. Some aren't even available on DVD. So yes, still love out there for VCR's.

I own one VCR thats never been replaced since I bought it about 8 years ago. I've gone through several dvd players. I don't rebuy movies just cause some new thing came out. HDD, blu-ray, etc I can do without all of it. I enjoyed these same older movies when they first came out, making it look all spiffy won't change, the action(or lack of), story, plot, acting, etc. It'll just make you feel better when everything else sucks. You can always say.."But man it looked good!"

Keep selling them if the sell! Someone out there just hit a yard sale or thrift store, or a curb find an found a bunch of movies an need something play them on. Heh.

Watch for the old Betamax units. Found one at a rummage sale for $2 once.

I know you thrift store guys maybe going to the stores . Im debating if I should roll the dice and get a few from the thrift store and try to sell them

I was considering that. Maybe making a list of the ones that sell best online and trying to find them

ya they do great I sell about 20 a month, most are local sales but i do sell high end ones on ebay for $50 most i sell for $5-10 in person. laserdisc players can fetch $50-100 on ebay. never sold a working Betamax but do sell them for parts but I do not get many of them

Scrapped the last one I picked up without even testing. Looked like some kid stuffed food in it.

Can't say much though, mine tried the same with ours when he was around 2. LOL

We sell a lot of the combo dvd vrs and all the high end vcrs we come across about 10 to 15 a week on ebay.

Ha. I ever find a betamax it's going to be in my collection. I remember them when you can could still rent them, same with the old laser disc players, not surprised still a market for either.

I say take a chance Red, if your doing the thrift store route, or yard sales, you shouldnt be paying more then a couple bucks. Lest how their priced by me. thrift store..run me about 2 if I bought it there, yard sale..even cheaper as you can haggle.

Good on you all for selling the older stuff, there is still folks out there who love their vhs, dvd, laser disc, beta etc.

Oh an I also have dual one Mike, looks fancy but it's just a emerson. Free from a yard sale. works to, its my back up for when the current ones go bye bye.

We just sold a laser disc player for 799.99 with in one hour of listing it.

Laser disc players seem to die from old age (laser diodes fail I think) so working models command some money from collectors.

You might think VCRs are worthless but thrift stores have millions of old kids VHS tapes for very little so they are a cheap way of keeping the kids amused connected to an old CRT TV.

I still have my old VHS and SVHS decks, plus I purchased a pro rackmount JVC SVHS unit for my old analog video editing collection. If anybody runs into any old JVC Pro decks (BR-xxxxxx) that have an RS232 or RS422 interface add-on let me know.
