WOW!
I would have thrown it right back, thinking that the market would be to specialized.
Good deal.
Since it was new in the box, I had to bring it home and look it up. New ones can go over $300. You are right. It is a specialized market. That is what makes it worth some money for the most part.

And someone just threw it away? Sucks for them. What type of dumpster did you find it in?
There's nothing more fun and more effective than hitting something repeatedly with a sledgehammer
I found it in the nursing home that I work at. I am the bus driver (best job ever). The maintenance guys know to set aside all metal for me, but did not think about that having value so it was going to get chucked, until I grabbed it. I have a pretty good eye for that stuff.
Nice work parrothead. I hope you get close to retail.
Nice find. I love finding stuff like that. A couple months ago I found walkie talkies that home depot type stores use, the complete set sells for $5,000 brand new, and I found a near complete set. I sold it to a guy I know for $2,000 for a fast turn over. People are crazy.
Not at all. You have a very good find too. I'll often sell stuff on ebay from dumpsters for $1.00-$10.00. Again, people are crazy. =)
Final price was 187.50
Awesome, congrats! More tools! haha
Here is an item that was headed to the dumpster and the owner gave it to me.

As you can tel, it sold for $202.50 plus freight.
The buyer got a good deal [sells for about 700 used] and I got a good deal, as far as I am concerned.
Very nice!
Very nice....100% profit. That is the right number in my book!
I have dumpster dived for years before I recently got into scrapping.
Found a gateway computer that was 6 months old (per the receipt in the dumpster apparently someone got evicted in my appartment complex) Kept if for 3-4 years and sold it for $80 a few months before win 98 was retired. Also found a sega that I kept and sold on ebay for $35 a few years later.
I used to work 2nd shift in an office complex. At night I used to check a couple of the trashcans and once found a dictation machine. Ebayed it for $65
Recently in my quest for metal found a saxophone. Ebayed it for $90 .... buyer was in Australia and it cost near $100 to ship it.
So yes if you keep your eye open you can and will find items that can be ebayed or sold for a profit. Thats the fun part of scrapping. My only problem now is that I am not so quick to jump in dumpsters anymore.
Beaker, did you get too old or did you find a dead body ???!!!
They were building a Buffalo Wild Wings near my house and hung 54 plasma TVs from the ceiling and threw all the bases away. I got em (out of the boxes, I didn't have to get in the dumpster) and ebayed $812 worth of them in about 2 weeks.
