Trying to repair Toshiba Beta VCR V-M32

Well, turns out that neither Beta VCR that I picked up recently works. So I am trying to figure out if I can fix them and whether that would even be worthwhile.

One of them is Toshiba V-M32. It's got a tape inside and it's stuck. The unit does not play, eject, rewind, ff or move the tape any other way. When I hit the eject button it make some noise and there is a sound of moving parts but it seems that something is either stuck or broken inside. Is this a common problem with this type of VCR's? Can you offer any advice on how it can be fixed?

    Thx

There are a bunch of idlers with rubber tires, belts, and plastic parts that crack, dry and/or an go out of spec on VCRs. You would have to take the covers off, identify the parts that have failed (usually rubber) and replace them. You can't find these parts at Radio Shack, though. In addition. there are posts & idlers that get gunked up with tape residue that need to be cleaned. The video heads are very fragile and special chamois swabs and special technique is needed to clean them. Google can be your friend. Make sure it is worth the bother before you spend the time on the old beast!

I would stick it on Ebay for parts/repair, as non functional. Still worth more than scrap. I don't like messing with them unless it's something very simple. Sometimes with the older ones you fix one thing and something else breaks after you ship it and they start using it, especially when they've sat around for 7+ years just collecting dust in someone's attic. Too much aggravation.

My rule of thumb for stuff like that is just flip it, get the money you can for it...maybe it's not the money you could, but it's money.

After doing some research I decided to scrap both. Have bigger fish to fry at the moment. Both players are very heavy so shipping will be expensive, so just not worth my time. Pulled transformers, wires and some alum out, rest went to the shred pile.
