True they are gaming parts but most true gamer's (NOT ME) want the latest and greatest to push the latest and greatest games.......Those parts would be what you would build a "Budget Gamer" out of.........Send it to Army or Part Time or Matador I'll vouch for all of them and they will pay the best they can and still turn a buck for themselves (that's what I'd do).......If they are like me they are over run with parts but would love to have you as a customer!!!!.........Welcome to the FORUM

Thanks Mike!
The problem with gaming machines is that the boundaries are always being pushed. Take a look at a popular, modern game: Grand Theft Auto V (Five). The minimum CPU is a Q6600, which was a middle of the road LGA775 quad core CPU. Some of those boards may take a little more CPU, but there just isn't comparison to a newer i7 or AMD FX series CPU. Even the FX-4300 in my office PC should do better.
There just isn't much demand for LGA 775 boards anymore. I sell a 775 machine every now and then, but not too many. When you look at the cost of putting together a nicer AMD-based system, the 775 just can't compete anymore.
I can remember when the Core 2 Quad was the best out there. I guess I'm getting old....

matador, do you want to give me your prices on them?
I have been stock piling my computer and gaming items and haven't tried or had much interest in trading or selling at this time as most of what I have is definitely vintage already. The computer I'm using is a old Dell gaming computer. It is the most modern that I have.
Most of my computer and gaming hoard is from before 1990 with select items from earlier and later years.
I have so many other things around the yard that I can trade, sell or scrap that don't interest me much that I don't mind putting the more interesting stuff away for now.
I personally don't like computers much so I don't know much about them beyond the basics and interesting trivia and such.
I'm a bit of a different character as I collect things that I have little or no interest in using or playing with.
I collect video game items but hardly ever play them and when I do it's the older "baby games" or arcade games. My favorite game is Dr Mario and I like Ms. Pacman and galaga now and then.
I have most of the older shooter games as well as the light guns and such as that stuff can be a blast with a small crowd of friends in the "man cave".
I collect many other interesting curios that I also have little interest in what they are associated with.
I just enjoy collecting curious and interesting curios. Many things I collect as I just like the way that they look to the eye. I also collect what is popular and will remain popular as I'm very good at picking the winners in that department.
So basically, Do you save as vintage parts until there is a demand, or scrap now as obsolete?
Depends on what a person is set up for best it seems.
It also depends on whether you want to resell the games or just play them. I know that Windows XP (I know, I know....) can run many DOS floppy-based games just fine. Therefore, keeping an old Pentium II machine doesn't accomplish much if you're just looking for playability.
If you're looking to play the "latest and greatest" though, you want a newer system. I'm not really a gamer, so I may be wrong, but I wouldn't want to build a basic computer that barely plays the game I want. If I'm going to plop the money down for a game like GTA V, I would want the full, immersive experience, not frame drops and lagging from a machine that can do it.
Computers are like cars. We remember the good times of the past, but we tend to forget how far we've come....
