    Found an Iphone today

On the side of the road. Its been run over and the glass cracked but it still works perfectly and the touch and display are perfect.
I'd like to find the owner, but none of the hacks around the passcode I found online have worked. Neither has hooking it up to the USB port and using Iphuc to try to read files. Will the AT&T center unlock it for you in order to get into the contacts to find the owner?
If I cant find the owner, this model, the A1332, appears to be selling for about 70$ in this condition on Ebay.

They won't tell you who it belongs to, but they can run it to see if it's missing or stolen. In either case, the phone is rendered useless, you can scrap it, or they can scrap it. Up to you.

Once it has been reported lost or stolen, the owner gets another phone, and the lost/stolen phone is disabled forever. (as far as I know)

Well I guess Ebay it is then!
Sweet groundscore. I don't do it myself , but I have friends who are big into the tech stuff that can jailbreak and unlock all kinds of gadgets. There's always a way to get around any kind of block or disable deal.

There is a strong chance the owner is still frantically looking for it. Take it to the nearest cell store. They should at least be able to identify the right carrier to take it to. That carrier can unlock it & contact it's owner, or call one of the contacts in it to get to the owner.

What would you want me to do if I found your phone?

Eh I took the thing to the local AT and T dealership today and handed it to the guy, he said they could find the person. Possibly they replace the glass topscreen seeing as its all shattered- I wonder what happens to the thing if it is replaced, does the dealership throw them away or recycle them-
Feel good about myself, I think seeing the list price on Ebay was blinding me with greed

They either sell them back to the company, or sell them in bulk to a phone recycling company. They pay decent if you can git yerself a nice pile of them. Hell a place here even pays for shipping.

I agree--the owner might be looking for it. I know that I couldn't afford a new iPhone if mine was lost and I'd probably wait awhile to claim it as stolen. Hopefully everything worked out!

For future reference if it is passlocked you can still jailbreak it but it will NOT unlock it. There is a work around that will get you into contacts and pictures. I found one while working in Gatlinburg and googled passlock workaround and found a fairly simple method. been awhile but I believe you utilize the emergency call button and type a 4 digit number and hit "call" as soon as you hit the call button hit the power button on top. (not hold) Again its been awhile but should throw you right into contacts. I'm with the whole Karma deal. You never know what a good deed can do.

I found a thoroughly battered & crushed iphone.... I "think" it's an iphone 5... today. It's mangled beyond repair, but the simcard looks intact. I'll take it to an ATT store tomorrow, just so the owner can be notified his phone was found but will never work again.

I wonder how much gold value there is in the remaining pieces?

^^^^^I'm sure he/she would like their sim card back.I lost a phone once. The new sim was $35, not to mention the lost contacts.
