Scrapping - never know what you will find next!

Found these cell phones in the bottom of a box of phone covers ... looks like they were never used !

Cool finds. I have an old Brownie camera. They made a bunch of them back then. While dumping scrap last week I found a really old steel milk can with the lid. Great patina. The writing on the can showed it was made in 1939. Really heavy empty. I could only imagine how heavy it was full of milk or creme. Paid the guy two bucks for it.

I recently dismantled a "brick" car phone. There wasn't much value for resale in this particular one. But there were some really nice PCB's. High Grade..

It's always a gift from the dumpster gods when you find a old anything in great shape. They just don't make anything like the old stuff!

I decided last night after doing a little research that the old "brick" car phone was going to get the full scrapper tear down. In about 10 minutes (or less) it was reduced to three high value circuit boards, I removed the metal brass atached, a transformer and 14 "gum drop" tantalum capacitors. I couldn't resist putting the three circuit boards from the car phone next to some cell phone circuit boards. Simply amazing to see just how far technology in regards to mobile phones has advanced in the last 35 years. Layed on a table in front of me I had a car phone made in 1982, when phones for most of us was a land line on a wall or a desk (with wires attached making sure it stayed there). Next to the car phone circuit boards was mixtures of early flip phones all the way up to last years smart phones. Just makes you think, where we been and where are we going?

i found an old solid state portable vinyl record player in a scrap yard the other day, has 45 and 33 speed selectors on it.
