    Appliance Plastic

    Hey, everybody.

    A local appliance refurbisher is closing up shop and they asked if I could help with some plastic items from fridges, washers, freezers, etc.. I said we could, based on initial estimates of up to five pallets. In fact, it's nearly a full dozen gaylord sets of stuff. I can process it through our plastic outlets easily enough but I figured I would see if we had a marketable volume of these items. Does anyone buy or have a lead on someone buying crisper drawers, etc.? I didn't see anything in the older posts and thought to ask.

    Many on the forum have talked about selling these items on line, but I do not have experience in this area. I personally use the bins to hold nuts and bolts, tools, or scrap.

    I use an old dishwasher to store welding rod (moisture from the air will ruin it) and a fridge was used to build a counter for the bar-b-que. Laying it on it's back and removing the doors allowed the use of the freezer as a cooler and the fridge portion is used to store solar lights, mosquito candles, yard games, cushions for the chairs, and misc. The sides and ends are covered with barn wood, a top for the freezer was made out of Styrofoam and barn wood while the fridge (cabinet) has a lid made out of barn wood with a cutting board. I got the idea from the internet.

    Many sell parts for more than scrap value but I love finding new uses for scrap. Just an idea.

    Vintage knobs & dials seem to sell well on Ebay.

    Just look up the part you have under SOLD listings

    To be clear for all replies, there are no knobs. I asked Anthony and he doesn't have any outlets for this kind of stuff. I can use a few for storage compartments but, really, this is hundreds of pieces. Online sales are out of the question; we are looking at getting balers in the next few weeks and I can't hold on to this stuff while the long-tail does its work.

    Redcross, if you want some cool crisper action, PM me. Consider me swayed. Even better, tell everyone. With steel prices up, the hunt is on for these appliances, once again, and we are probably all interested in some better-than-scrap pricing for this lightweight but high-volume material.
