Ku Band Fixed Frequency Magnetron & Reflex Klystrons

Hey, been lurking here since last May, first time poster. I recently found these someone had disposed of, brand new and in a sealed box from 1977. Any ideas on where to sell them?

    • Ku-Band Fixed-Frequency Miniature Magnetron
LITTON INDUSTRIES INC ELECTRON TUBE DIVISION, USA

    • Reflex Klystron
    VARIAN, CANADA

    Yep, welcome too.
You will have to make a few more posts before you can post any pics. Read up & you will learn stuff & we can answer any other questions you have.
What part of the world are you in? Im about as far South as you can get, in NewZealand.

A Ku band magnetron sounds a bit like a Police speeding radar system part.
Don't take it apart, theres some poisonous stuff in the ceramic ends, its ok as it is but if its broken, the dust can get into your lungs, & 20 years later cause some health problems.

You can post a link to your photos though, we love photos.
What other stuff do you scrap down and what sort of amounts & how did you get into scrapmetal?

    Welcome to the forum DB.

Google and Ebay are your friends. You can try searching on there.

Best guess is that the two parts might have had something to do with an advanced microwave communications setup of some kind back in the 70's.Could have been some kind or radar array. ?

If you knew something about the place that tossed them ... it might give you a clue as to what they were used for.

Either way, it's probably obsolete technology seeing as the parts are 40-50 years old ?

You might be cautious about selling. Some of the things listed on ebay were produced within the military industrial complex and may still be classified. Definitely don't sell anything you're not sure about outside of the U.S.

    Edited to add:

You might try these guys if you would consider donating them to a museum..

Ku is a satellite band and a klystron tube is related to signal forming and amplification. This is likely from the analog days of satellite distribution...most things have gone digital now. I couldn't even put a value on it...odds are the components for this item have long been replaced though. I used to work in tv...somits a thing there for sure with sat transmitters, and could have been military too, but that tech is 40 plus years old...unless you are shipping to Iran or Cuba I can't imagine it's a worry. Lots of industry has satellite gear too so it could from there too.
