back in the middle and late 60s I was a pretty hot racer, sponsored by the ca plumbers assoc. we had 3 cars 2 set up for asphalt and one for dirt. it was 65 or 66, mid seasion champion ship time and I hqd a full two week schedule. ran on friday night in Portland on the asphalt. got on a plane and headed to Ascot park in Gardina Ca, a big time dirt track at the time. got home and just had time to hook up the trailer and head for the track. got there right at hot laps. went to the car flipped the switch and hit the go button. not a peep, groan or chug, got out and we popped the hood and pulled the fender and battery boxes. NO radiator, no batteries, no starter. apparently my brother in law at the time needed drug money and decided to become a scrapper.
